What is the Holi Festival or Festival of Colors?

Holi is a festival of colours. It is also called the celebration of love. At this festival, people play with colours. They play with colours by spraying them from a distance or throwing coloured powder. Children love it the most, and they play with colours till they get dizzy. Holi is when the environment becomes colourful, and everyone loves the festival.

What to do if you get colours in your eyes?

Never be panic- If you get Holi colour in your eyes, don't panic and never rub your eyes. Just make sure that your face is not wet, and try to flush your eyes with clean water. If one eye is affected, wash it separately from the other eye. Rinse well with clean water. You can use a clean piece of cloth or paper towel to wipe the affected eye gently.

Rinse your eyes- Immediately rinse your eyes with plenty of clean water for at least 15 minutes. Ideally, you should get it flushed out at the hospital. But if you cannot do that, do not rub your eyes and do not put any kind of solution that contains chemicals like vinegar, alum, bleach etc.

Keep these in mind when cleansing eyes:

  • Keep your head lowered and tilt your chin to the chest to let the water flow into the eyes.
  • Make sure your hands are clean and use them to gently push the water into your eyes while you are holding your head down.
  • Gently put a clean cloth over your eyes and use your fingertips to apply slight pressure to the fabric, pushing the water into your eyes.
  • Continue this until the water flows out of your eyes, not your nose.

Use Natural solution- You can also use a natural solution such as Rosewater as an eye drop. Also can use cold water or ice packs on the eyes.

Consult a Doctor- When you are done, try to see if your vision is okay or blurred. If you are still seen poorly, rapidly go to the hospital or doctor.
